It´s also an
old custum. Children have already collected any fuel and other burnable matter to a heap. In the middle of it they erected a beam and a bid clothed doll is fastened to it.
On St.Martin´s ewe the whole town especially the children are gathered in a parade, carrying paper torches and others made out of sugar beets. They goes to the pyre, in front St. Martin horseback, dressed in his long cloak, accompanied by the "Poor Man".
The are singing the St. Martin´s Song and get a bread roll. At last the pile will be burnt.
After that, at night young boys try to catch a girl to paint her cheeks with a cork blacked in the fire´s ash.
